Olívia Cselényi Fodor – What are you working on this week?

Summer has traditionally been the time I spend on a “different kind” of work. Things I have no time for during the rest of the year, or that simply come with the season. This summer, however, feels a little different too, as I find myself at a crossroads. I’m saying goodbye to teaching, though I can’t yet see clearly what will take its place. The options are gradually narrowing, and I hope whatever comes next will still leave room for translation. These days, my time is divided between hands-on work, learning, and planning.

And, of course, waiting. Waiting to see what the future holds. Waiting for Ibažena, the Slovak translation of Éva Péterfy-Novák’s Egyasszony, to be published by Womanpress. At the same time, I’m eager to resume my translation of her novel Apád előtt ne vetkőzz. For now, that project has been put on hold, waiting for the dust to settle and for things to fall back into place. And then there is my translation of Lucía Etxebarria’s Cosmofobia, which still needs a little polishing before I can offer it to Slovak readers.
