Members of the Bázis literary and artistic association were astonished to learn from a report in the daily Napunk how the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic intends to change the language law. For example, it plans to order employees of post offices, railways and bus transport to communicate with customers exclusively in Slovak. Although we do not know what proposal will be submitted to Parliament, it is scandalous and unacceptable that such an idea, which is reminiscent of the darkest nationalist times, could ever have been conceived. The members of Bázis protest against any bill that restricts and violates the rights of minorities.
